Nicole Dutton

Nicole Dutton embarked on her dance journey 18 years ago under the guidance of Mrs. Sarah Kane at Soul Purpose. Mrs.Sarah taught her ballet, tap, and jazz until 2015, when Soul Purpose closed and Mrs. Hope Borthick opened Shalom Movement School of Dance. Undeterred by the change, Nicole embraced the expanded offerings at Shalom, adding contemporary, modern, hip-hop, and acro.

She’s been glued to the dance floor since day one, always eager to soak up every bit of knowledge the world of dance has to offer. Her dedication led her to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at Austin Peay State University. Throughout her time in college, Nicole danced in every Austin Peay dance concert, showcasing not only her ability to perform but also her original choreography. Her senior year she participated in a musical, and created a capstone where she had to hold auditions, choose dancers, costumes, and lighting.

During her time at Austin Peay, Nicole had the privilege of learning from esteemed dancers and choreographers, including the renowned Keenan Whitmore, who handpicked her for one of his pieces. Concurrently, she shared her expertise by teaching a diverse range of dance styles at Shalom for three years and also contributed her knowledge to the Community School of the Arts in Clarksville for a year.

“I’m excited to follow in the footsteps of two women who I have looked up to for the
majority of my life, and I’m so excited to expand on what they have built. I’m so blessed
that God has given me this opportunity”
