Summer White
Summer started her dance training in 1997 with ballet and tap. She was quickly recognized for her tap skill and asked to join a competition group. There she studied for 6 years training in ballet, point, tap, jazz modern, and hip-hop. From there she took her skills as a dancer and traveled with “Moxy” a world class winter guard, where she was featured as their dance soloist. Summer also traveled with “Music City Legend Drum and Bugle Core”, where they made it to nationals in New York. Summer then found that she was called back to her community in Springfield, TN, she felt the need to share her experiences, so she started teaching at Soul Purpose Dance Studio. She taught there for five years teaching tap, jazz and ballet. During that time she saw the opportunity for expansion and started a point, and hip-hop program for the students. Summer was very active in the community during her time at Soul Purpose, and taught for the Springfield High School and Greenbriar High School color guards, she also taught the after school dance program at Greenbriar Elementary.Summer then moved to Nashville, where she was hired to help choreograph for a group called “The Spinderells”, a synchronized hula-hoop group. While she was teaching them dance, they were teaching her to hula-hoop, and she quickly became a full member of their group. She worked with them for three years preforming at venues such as, Exit Inn, Gaylord Opryland Hotel, The Muddy Roots Festival, and Live on the Green. Summer and I have known each other since first grade, and through the years we have had many opportunities to work and dance together, which is why when I started this en devour I knew she was a perfect fit. When we first got together and talked about the studio, Summer said right away that she wanted to teach tap. She said, “ tap has always been my passion, it is a timeless classic. Tap is what brought me into the love of dance, and I hope to share that excitement with our students.”
